🚗 Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP) Requirements
Effective 9/4/18, all Driver’s Education students must obtain a Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP) before attending class.

✅ Step-by-Step Instructions
STEP 1: Enroll at NOLA Driving Institute
First, register for your Driver’s Education course.
STEP 2: Visit the DMV
Bring the following items to your nearest Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) to obtain your Temporary Instruction Permit.
➤ For Minors (Ages 14–17):

Original or State Certified Birth Certificate (no photocopies)

Social Security Card

Court-Certified Custody Papers (if applicable)

Parent or Legal Guardian (must be present with valid Driver’s License or State ID)
➤ For Adults (18+):

Original or State Certified Birth Certificate

Social Security Card
-
Proof of Residence
-
Two proofs if applying for a Real ID

If you already have a valid Louisiana State ID with SSN on file, only the ID and proof of residency are needed

💵 TIP Cost:

$32.25 (+ service fee up to $6.00)

Accepted Payment: Cash, Credit/Debit Card, Money Order, or Check (Check # must be over 1500)

STEP 3: Bring These Items on the First Day of Class

Any remaining documents required by the school
STEP 4: Complete the Course
Finish your classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training.
You’ll receive a sealed envelope with all required documentation for licensing.
STEP 5: Return to the DMV to Get Your License or Learner’s Permit
